| 2012 Ground Rules |
Lorena Little League is comprised of players residing in the Lorena or Bruceville-Eddy school districts. The Lorena Little League board of directors is a duly elected governing body of this league. The following ground rules have been approved by the board of directors and shall apply to the current season. The Little League playing rules for the particular divisions will apply at all times unless a following ground rule supersedes the rule book. Some of the more important rules included in the playing rules are merely restated here to stress their importance.

1. The season winner will be determined by OVERALL RECORD.
TIEBREAKERS: a. Head to Head
b. Playoff game
All players on the roster at the start of the game will hit and remove in the same batting order during the entire game regardless of substitutions. Each league will place the maximum number of players in the field as per local rules per league.
2. Pee Wee, Minors and Majors - first and second place teams go to City Tournament.
3. Majors and above the first place team is the Manager for All-Stars.
Minor All-Stars Managers will be determined by:
- Girls- The first place Coach of the Majors girls division will have the first right of refusal to coach the 11-12 yr old girls all stars and descend down from there (he or she may decide to pass up the 11-12yr old girls and coach the 9-10 yr old girls all-stars).
- Boys- 1st place team in Minors and descend down the Minor division until a Manger is accepting.
- 11 yr old All-Stars: 2nd place team in Majors and descend down the Major division until a Manager is accepting. (Being there is enough players to participate.
4. Observe all pitching rules. Fill out eligibility forms at the end of each game in ink. A manager or coach failing to comply is suspended until he/she appears before the Lorena Little League Protest Committee. It is the manager’s responsibility to contact his/her divisional coordinator in this regard.
5. Home team will occupy first base dugout.
6. Score Keepers must sit together in the score box during each game.
7. All games that need rescheduled will be done so through the League President. The game will be scheduled at the next available date, including Wednesday night.
8. If playing the first game of the day the home team manager is responsible for ensuring the field is ready to play.
9. If playing the last game of the day the home team is responsible for returning the bases to the storage shed, returning the score box, raking the infield and turning off the lights. Violation of this rule results in the manager being suspended from the next game.
10. Any helmet provided by the league will come with a facemask, players providing their own helmet may not be required to wear a facemask providing they sign a waiver protecting the league from liability. Also, no helmets barring stickers or paintings will be allowed to be worn by any player without the manufactures written permission that it is permissible and covered under the manufactures warranty.
- After five (5) runs or three (3) outs, teams will change sides. (This will allow for continuous play. For example, if bases were loaded and the batter hits a home run, all those runs will count for a possible of max of 8 runs an inning. The game will be open at the beginning of the 4th inning.
- Will play under coach pitch rules, coach pitch only, no players will pitch in this league.
- Will play under City Tournament Rules. (Copy will be given to the Manager), example if the batter has a count of 3 balls and no strikes than the coach will have 3 pitches (the batter must hit at least one of the pitches), 3-1 count 2 pitches, 3-2 count 1 pitch. The batter can strike out and will not be penalized for foul balls.
- Any player not starting in the current game will start the next game and play the minimum amount specified in the rule book, even if they play at least the minimum amount in the current game. Any player not starting the game will be put in the game at the top of the 3rd inning to ensure all players playing time. The umpire will check at the top of the 3rd inning to make sure all players have entered the game.
- Rule 4.04 on page 20 of the Minor League rule book will be adopted. (This rule allows the option of using the entire roster as the batting order.) This will allow all players more times at bat.
- Each Manager will be responsible for covering a two hour period in the concession stand. He will be required to get three parents to help him during this time. Failure to fulfill your obligation the Manager is subject to being suspended for their next game.
T-Ball (boys and girls) 1 hour
6 & 8 (boys and girls) 1hour and 15 minutes
Pee Wee boys & girls, minor boys & girls 1 hour and 45 minutes
Major boys & Girls and Junior boys no time limited unless a game follows then 1 hr and 45 minutes or complete game or curfew Major boys & girls 10:00 and Junior Boys 11:00 according to Little League Rules
Pee Wee Minors (8-9 yr olds)
- No player will be allowed to advance to home without being hit in or advancing around the bases by their own hit, no player will be allowed to steal home. The play is deemed dead when the player pitcher has control of the ball in the 8 ft circle. If the pitcher is making a softball move than the play is still alive and the runner may advance at their own risk. Look back rule will be in full effect.
- If the batter hits the ball while a coach is pitching the ball and the ball strikes the coach than the play will be deemed dead and the batter must returned to the batter’s box and hit again without the pitch being counted towards one of her pitches from the coach. If the ball hits the coach and the coach does not make an attempt to get out of the way or if the ball is hit towards the coach and the coach is in the way of the defensive player and does not make an attempt to remove him/herself out of the players way then the batter will be called out.
- Runners will be allowed to advance as many bases at their own risk as long as the ball is not called dead by the umpire and in the circle with the pitcher having control of the ball.
- There will be no stealing of bases while the coach is pitching the ball. The player may not advance to another base until the ball reaches the batter, if the player is considered to have left early at the umpires judgment then the player will be called out.
- There is no bunting, slap hitting or drag bunts allowed. If the player attempts any of the mentioned actions while batting than the pitch will be called a strike.
- No inning will be allowed to start after the 1 hour and 45 minute time limit or 6 complete innings. A game can end in a tie if time expires. They may continue to play the game past the 6th inning if the game time has not expired.
- There will be 9 players positioned in the field with each team batting the entire lineup.
- Any rule that is not covered by local league rules will go by little league international rule book.
Major Girls
- All ASA and Little league rules will be in full effect.
- Runners will be allowed to advance as many bases at their own risk as long as the ball is not called dead by the umpire and in the circle with the pitcher having control of the ball and not making a softball move.
- The runner will be allowed to steal any base legally.
- The batter is allowed to bunt, slap bunt and drag bunt without this action being called an out.
- All games will be 6 innings or no inning may start after 10:00 pm, therefore a game can end in a tie if time has expired and at the end of the most recent complete inning then the game is considered complete.
- The runner is not allowed to leave the base until the ball has reached the batter.
- There is no run limited. All runs count until three outs are recorded.
- There will be 9 players positioned in the field with each team batting the entire lineup.
- Any rule that is not covered by local league rules will go by little league international rule book.
